Why You Should Send Money To Nigeria From USA

By Pamela Harris

It is not news to hear that people are being lifted through the help of a brother, a sister or a close family relation. Some of these people who act as messiahs were once projected by the same people they help when they thought that it was important for someone to go abroad to have the wherewithal to solve the needs of other family members. Except when a matter cannot be solved with cash, it is hard to hear that such families live in poverty. This is because the members abroad send money to Nigeria from USA quite often from the little savings they make.

The exchange rate between the dollar and the naira is high in favor of the dollar. In the black market, which is where the dollar can be easily bought, the exchange rate is about 365 naira per dollar. This means that exchanging some amount will make the Nigerian richer in a short while.

Traveling abroad does not seem palatable at first. However, it is easy to adapt in the US when one finds something to do. This is why the immigrants try to take multiple roles as freelancers where they will be paid as much as they work.

When they have successfully secured a job, they start sending funds to their loved ones in Nigeria. They tell the recipient what to do with it if it is not meant for them. At first, settling in the states comes with nostalgia to some but when they have fully acclimatized, they usually don't feel like going back home.

Apart from living better, they also make life more convenient for other family members despite doing menial jobs. With their little earnings, they can stay comfortably and also take care of their friends at home. It then becomes easier for the privileged families to build a house at home.

Apart from building, money sent across can also be for basic needs such as feeding. When the standard of living of the people is nothing to write home about, funds sent from the US can be a succor. Such families are blessed since while others complain, they are relaxed because of the alternative they have gotten.

Students schooling in Nigeria who have one or both parents abroad may not have problems with paying their school fees. This is because apart from having the money, sending it across to them is not an issue. Even with a close deadline, the money can be sent fast, even within minutes. There are several genuine money transfer agencies in the USA with branches in Nigeria to make this feasible. If the student wants, the payment can be made straight to the school's bank account to reduce stress.

Sending funds to Nigeria is the in-thing now. Any Nigerian living under $2 per day can do better by asking friends abroad to send just a token. The only challenge may be finding a fast and secure money transfer but that is still easy to get when the person abroad identifies only with a registered body.
