Tips On Making A Capex Request

By Kevin Murray

This special form of request has to be flawless as much as possible. In that scenario, your approval will not be delayed and the construction can begin right on time for your launch date. Yes, it can be very nerve racking to face the owners of the company but if your proposal indeed has potential, you must push through.

You should give an exact estimate on how much this will cost the company. A Capex request needs to be clear for the board members to somehow be in the same page with you. Give them the figures ahead of time and they shall slowly justify that this is just in the right range. Everyone will come to their senses for as long as you remain consistent with your talk points.

Be brief in describing how you have come up with your business plan. Describe the motivating factor which lead you to believe that this is a necessity to world nowadays. Again, let your request serve as a glimpse of your vision to the board and that can persuade them to give you a chance and be lenient with your future adjustments.

A plan B needs to be formed as well since you are talking to cautious businessmen in here. When you appeal to most of their fears, they will have all the reason to sign the approval. So, learn to manage the skeptics and highlight the facts which can strengthen the theory that the suggested project will not fail and become the newest trend in the market.

Every cost needs to be accounted for. If you have to guide them through where the future materials will be coming from, so be it. Again, you are at the disposal of these people as of the moment. So, continue apprehending all of their fears and you can expect them to start counting on you to deliver even how eccentric your idea may be.

There would always be risks and it is important that you become upfront about them as well. This shows how transparent you are as a professional and how you are wiling to do anything to make your plan work. Just convince these people to trust on your managerial skills and on the expertise of your sub level contractors.

Get some stakeholders to sign the proposal before the meeting. When the other members see that some of their friends went ahead without their consultation, their ego will drive them into the same paper as well. In business, you just need to know more about people.

A list of assumptions will be the next thing in your agenda. However, take note that this is just part of what is professionally required from you. Once you already got the entire board to sign up, your project will be on the way.

What is important is that you are willing to defend your proposal until it gets the approval. If this has solely been your idea, then just be motivated by the fact that you will get all the recognition in the end. Believe in your creative idea and everyone else would follow suit along the way.
