The tax returns are being examined by the IRS with many stages to make sure that the everything is precise. Some entries will raise a few flags and the returns will be forwarded to an office for more examination. If the person has experienced something like this, they will receive a written notice from IRS illustrating that the returns are subject to field examination or office for more auditing. If clients are too intimated and nervous to represent themselves and have some doubts that they might say something irrelevant or worsen the case, they should approach an attorney or a CPA to represent them during the appointments. If there are some issues that are severe and serious, individuals can backout at that moment and convene to make an appointment on a later date and with a professional beside them.

When an auditor is accusing you for frauds or other serious crimes and penalties, then hiring an attorney right away is the best course of action to take. Be honest and open when talking to an attorney so they can formulate a strategy to better serve your own interest. Do not worry about your privacy because clients are protected with confidentiality by their attorney.
