Signage Does Have Its Rightful Place In Your Office Space

Indoor signage is just as important as its outdoor equivalent. It's not enough just to make your location known to potential client pools and the world at large. Once people are in your Des Moines office space, their perception of your brand is shaped by not just the aesthetics, but also the interior signs.

Among the harsh realities of running a business is that ingraining your brand in the minds of your clients is easier said than done. Marketing does help in this regard, but people are so inundated with promotional messages these days that they've learned to switch off. That's why it's important to make a grand impression on whoever comes into your premises. And what better way to do this than to put your logo and brand name right in their face?

Your brand's personality is unique and should be expressed inside your office. After all, customers need to know that you are more than just another boring business. Not to mention that this is the one place where your freedom of expression is arguably unlimited. It's thus fair to say you'd have committed a cardinal sin by failing to capitalize on this opportunity.

It's all too easy to focus on impressing your clients that you neglect your employees. The truth is that the two are a lot alike -- they need to be reminded of why they chose you over other organizations. Office signage is effective not just in this regard, but also in creating a mood that's conducive for teamwork.

Wondering what kind of messaging should be on your interior signage? Anything, really -- company motto, inspirational quotes, product info, directions, etc. Just remember that signs are only effective when they communicate. In an era where people have extremely-short attention spans, it's crucial that your message(s) be short and succinct.

It's all well and good to choose fonts from your company's palette, but don't use more than 2 in a single design. Ideally, these should form a contrasting combination that let the reader's attention gravitate to the message. Of course, you want the wording to be large enough to be viewed easily from afar.

While colors play a key role in signage design, choosing them isn't an exact science. Still, it goes without saying that you'll want to pick hues that are suitable for an indoor environment. Also be sure to consult your printer before proceeding any further.

The whole point of signage is to grab attention, so why not make it fun? Yes, that's right -- even a serious office environment can have humorous signs. And while it's tempting to think that this will dilute your image, nothing could be further from the truth. Most people will actually appreciate the laugh, with some even taking pictures to post on social media. Just as long as you keep the humor appropriate.

A surefire way to gauge the effectiveness of your signs is to study how people react to them. Doing this over the course of several days should help you see if there's anything that needs fixing. Although the process will take a bit of effort, it's a step-by-step journey towards perfecting your signage.
